Sunrise’s Edwina Bartholomew Weds In Breathtaking Century Old Dress

Congratulations are in order for Edwina Bartholomew and partner of seven years, Neil Varcoe. The couple are officially married, exchanging vows during an intimate country ceremony on Saturday April 21st, at at their Warramba property which is near Mudgee, NSW.

The couple sprinkled their special day with many symbolic touches, among the most heartwarming is the bride’s vintage wedding dress which was also worn by her grandmother.

“I was very close to my beautiful grandmother, Mimi. She wore this wedding dress in 1944 when she married my grandfather, Keith Halley. My great grandmother wore the veil for her wedding in 1915.

“More than twenty women in my family have now worn this dress and veil over the past 100 years,” Edwina revealed. The sentimental gown was reimagined by Cappellazzo Couture.

The best day @neilwrites xxx #warrambawedding
One final photo from our wedding day. I was very close to my beautiful grandmother, Mimi. She was strong and outspoken and naughty. She would pop out for a skinny dip in the middle of summer dinner parties and loved the Tennis because the ‘men had such good legs’. She was so full of life. She wore this wedding dress in 1944 when she married my grandfather, Keith Halley. My great grandmother wore the veil for her wedding in 1915. More than twenty women in my family have now worn this dress and veil over the past 100 years. Thank you @cappellazzocouture couture for bringing it back to life with so much care and consideration. #warrambawedding
The divine, marvellous, incredible, stunning, gorgeous, zany, happy, dog-loving, tree climbing, Holly Hipwell. Thank you for making all of my floral dreams come true @theflowerdrum #warrambawedding

The popular Sunrise star and Neil chose the specific date as it’s exactly one year since he proposed at the same location.

It’s so hard to find the words to describe the most beautiful day of our lives. This morning I woke up early and went back to our amazing marquee to soak in the sun. We are so incredibly indebted to every single person on this list who made our wedding day so spectacular. From hail storms, bogong moth plagues, generators running out of diesel, kids left colouring-in in the dark, g-strings on the dance floor and camp fire sing-a-longs. It was epic. Thank you for all of your beautiful messages and kind thoughts. We are overwhelmed and so grateful xxx #warrambawedding
